In this these, finite element analysis was performed on the load-carrying capability of a pressurized pipe with wending defects in the circumferential or screw welds based on the pressure vessel code of design by analysis.(1) Finite element models were established for the pressurized pipe of φ660 in outer diameter with misalignment or unfitness defects in the circumferential welds. Strength analysis and calculation of the allowed pressure were carried out based on the pressure vessel code of design by analysis. Formulas were regressed relating the allowed pressures and the magnitudes of the defects.(2) Finite element models were established for the pressurized pipe of φ660 in outer diameter with with pout or unfitness defects in the screw welds.
