Active detection systems, such as radar and sonar, have encountered more and more threaten in modern electronic warfare and information warfare. Passive location and tracking system, which uses electromagnetic wave emitted by target, has been proved its merits of self-hiding and far-distance detecting and becomes more and more important. On the other hand, it is urgent to develop the detection system with the idea of radar network and information colligation to make sure that information can be gotten enough, exactly and quickly in the more and more complex electromagnetic environment. As the combination of radar network and passive detection, network of passive airborne Radars has all their advantages. Also, as the combination of action unit and detection unit, it is very flexible, agile and aggressive and becomes one of the key technologies in warfare. The study in this paper is performed around the key problems of the technology of location and tracking with network of passive airborne Radars. The main contents are as following. In chapter 2, the frame of the detection system with network of passive airborne radars and the principles which needed be followed when it is used in battle are studied as the assignment of it is discussed. In chapter 3, the algorithms and the accuracy of the location and tracking system using TDOA or DOA observations with multi-observers are studied and several factors which cause the location error are discussed. In chapter 4, a method for space registration of the measurements gotten by several observers in different coordinate system is presented and the accuracy is discussed. In chapter 5, the causes of the problem and the effects caused by it that measurements are gotten sequentially by several planes in location and tracking system using DOA measurements with multi-planes are studied and the observability is discussed. The method of SCAAT is introduced to assimilate and filter sequential measurements for location and tracking and simulations are done in chapter 5 also.
