Power transformer is one of the most important and critical equipments in power grid. Serious transformer accidents not only cause damage to transformer itself, but also cause the disruption of the electricity supply and causing huge economic losses to society. Therefore, how to ensure transformers safely and economically operate is one of the most critical research fields all over the world.Oil-paper insulation is one of the most important insulation forms in oil immersed transformers. Long-term operation under the stress of heat, water, oxygen and some other factors led to the performance of insulation degrade gradually. Nowadays, many of our large transformers operated even more than 20 years in China, insulation ageing is becoming a increasingly serious threaten to the grid security; Therefore, through laboratory accelerated aging to study the oil-paper insulation aging process, and find out the law of the development of performance parameters changes over time; after that we can establishing an oil-paper insulation aging models based on the characteristics of aging product. Then it is magnificent and feasible to evaluate the stage of insulation aging and this is undoubtedly an important frontier science research field.Laboratory accelerated thermal aging was conducted under 90 degrees, 110 degrees and 130 degrees, many aging products and insulation performance parameters were measured periodically. According to those parameters from the thermal aging experiments, pure oil and oilpaper samples' aging characteristic under different temperature were contrasted and analyzed; some conclusions were very helpful for the local engineers.Gradual regression analysis through specific mathematical algorithms to achieve automatic data selection and remove useless or even wrong data; The test data analysis revealed: the furfuran content have a very good correlation with polymerization degree of insulation paper, and a correlation model between furfuran content and DP was founded by regression analysis.Factor analysis is a very popular multivariate statistical analysis method. It can summarize some unobservable factors from the test results which can summarize most of the observed data. The factor analysis suggest the DP, furfuran and CO_X can be divided into insulation aging factor, while the hydrocarbon gas and hydrogen were divided into another group which can be called insulation fault factor.
