Meshing analysis to the planar enveloping hourglass worm gearing can be done by the space meshing theory, which contains the equations of the two sides of teeth surface of worm and worm gear, the equations of boundary curve relative sliding velocity and relative normal curvature and so on of the first and the second envelop.These are theoretical basis of the planar enveloping worm gearing design calculation and program composition.In order to make full use of the worm-gearing performance, it is the design calculation process of parameter calculation,macro-quality observation,micro-quality parameter calculation, carrying power proof-test be ascertained.The influence of chemical constitution and heat treating to the material performance be analysed, the brand of the worm and worm gear be generalized,also.In view of the weak carrying capacity proof-test, the powers were compared between globoidal worm gear, Niemann worm gear and planar enveloping hourglass worm gear, it is considered safely that the rated power table be extended according to the rated power of the globoidal worm gear;Considering the contact ratio, study the method that the planar enveloping hourglass worm gear be proof-test by the strength calculation formulas of the Niemann worm gear.In order to describe contact stress accurately, on the basis of Hertz formula, contact stress formula has been deduced which is more fit to the planar enveloping hourglass worm gear according to the mesh and tooth-form character.Aim at meeting production demand better, The software about the planar envelo- ping hourglass worm gear design and calculation has been developed by VB 6.0, By this software, geometric parameter, undercut tolerance on the worm, addendum width of worm acrodont, instant contact line, lubricative angle, entrainment speed and relative normal curvature can be calculated, contact line on the worm gear, undercut line on the worm can be drawed, contact and bending intensity, worm shaft and worm-wheel shaft, and the power of worm drive can be proof-test.The practicability and reliability of the software had past test by the experimental example.
