According to the researches of the capacity spectrum method, this paper considers the improved capacity spectrum method functioned by multi model shapes from theoretic analysis, and suggests the improved capacity spectrum method which has taken multi model shapes into account. This method could improve the seismic design based on the performance, give a more available and effective analysis measure for engineering applications. Meanwhile, this method can calculate the objective displacement based on bottom shear from pushover method and curve of topmost displacement directly, however does not need iterative calculation. Though particular samples and comparison with elasto-placstic time-history analysis, the results show that this method has better reliability and practicability than the other methods.For the new request of capacity seismic design to dissipated energy, combined with pushover analysis of multi models this paper investigates the floor and structure members dissipated energy distribution of frame. According to the factor of dissipated energy, this method chooses seismic waves. Though calculate the elasto-placstic time-history dissipated energy, this paper compared with the result of pushover analysis. Meanwhile, this paper provides a new idea for seismic design based on capacity and extends the application of pushover analysis in seismic field.
