China is an frequently earthquake-attacked country, and a bridge project has anirreplaceable role in the industry of the whole transportation. Doing the seismic research ofbridge structure and improving the seismic performance of bridge structure are facing amajor issue in transportation construction area in our country. Based on the use ofpushover analysis method on the stone bridge as the basic starting point, it is studying theapplication of the pushover analysis method, the capacity spectrum method and modalpushover analysis method on the arch structure elastic-plastic seismic response analysis. Itis made discussion in application the presented methods to a stone arch bridge of sizhuangcity. This paper introduces the basic principles and concrete steps of the pushover analysismethod, and introduces several common forms of lateral load distribution and selectionmethod of control node. With specific examples of the stone arch bridge, it is comparingthe resulting of three time-history analysis of actual seismic waves with the resulting ofthree lateral load distributions. For transverse direction of the stone arch withoutconsidering the arch buildings, the results of the inverted triangular distribution pushoveranalysis closes to the results of time history analysis. This paper elaborates the basic theoryand implementation steps of ATC-40capacity spectrum method, Chopra’s improvingcapacity spectrum and simplifies the capacity spectrum. Using the results of the pushoveranalysis curve, an actual stone arch bridge makes the seismic response analysis by threetypes of capacity spectrum method it is discussed in displacement values. We find that thecalculated Chopra’s improving capacity spectrum is highest and the precision of thesimplify capacity spectrum method accuracy is lower than Chopra’s improving capacityspectrum method but the process is simple. This paper introduces the basic principles andbasic steps of modal pushover analysis methods. Its advantage is that considering the effectof higher modes of the structure. The result of seismic response of this method and theelastic-plastic time history analysis were compared. We found that that the accuracy ofanalytical methods is higher than the previous three capacity spectrum method pushoveranalysis method. The conclusions of this paper can be used as the basis of pushoveranalysis of such kinds arch bridge and is useful for pushover analysis of other kinds bridge.
