In recent years, the search for renewable energy has been hastened around the globe, with the world realizing the need to reduce the dependency on limited petroleum as the main source of energy. The world petroleum reserve to production ratio(R/P) stood at about 40 years from the year 2000, but the R/P of China is only about 20 years. Biofuels are potential renewable alternative fuels for internal combustion engines.Biodiesel is a fuel, which can be produced by chemical process of reacting vegetable oils or animals fats (transesterification) . Biodisel is attracting an increasing attention as an alternative, non-toxic, biodegradable and renewable diesel fuel. Many studies have shown that the properties of biodiesel are very close to those of diesel fuel. Therefore, biodiesel can be used in diesel engine with little or no engine modification. On the four-cylinder supercharged DI diesel engine, it completes the studies on comparative tests between the different biodiesel-diesel blends and diesel of fuel consumption and exhaust emissions under different loads. The experimental results show that with the rise of blending ratio, smoke is greatly reduced under high load; NOx largely increased; HC is greatly reduced under middle and light load; CO largely increased under high load when the engine is at speed of 2000rpm.We comparatively study the power performance, fuel consumption and exhaust emissions of biodiesel , diesel and biodiesel-diesel blends under the load characteristics and speed characteristics. The experimental results show that the biodiesel and different blending ratios biodiesel-diesel blends engines have the same change tendency of power performance, fuel consumption and exhaust emissions and the ranges of changes are in proportion to the blending ratio of biodiesel. |
