Optimization on mechanisms, in which the objective function is weight, stiffness, damping, etc. and the design variable and constraints are some different, have been done before by many scholars. But the researches on vibration characteristics of motor-driven elastic linkage systems have shown that the dynamic responses of linkage systems are nonlinear and multi-modality. They may bring some nonlinear vibration, such as superharmonic resonances, subharmonic resonances, multiple resonances, and combination resonances, under some circumstances. These resonances will take great effects on optimization in which the objective function to be minimized is dynamic responses. Therefore the optimal designs always obtained a local optimum solution, even an ordinary solution just better than the original design. To obtain a global optimum solution of mechanism systems, improving the optimization algorithm is tried. When resonances occurred in systems, the dynamic responses are greater than the other conditions usually. And it is an extremum in the function of response. To find every extremum, the optimization algorithm is improved in which the ability of local search is reinforced. Then according to the results, whether the resonances occurred or which resonance occurred are analyzed. In this article, the motor-driven elastic linkage systems are investigated and their dynamic characteristics are optimized and analyzed.
