There are increasing interesting in lithium ion batteries, in accordance with the development of portable electronic equipment, and as a power supply for future vehicles and load leveling systems. Among the known, Li insertion compounds, layered rock salt systems LiCoO2, LiNiCO2, and spinel framework system LiMn2O4, are now used as cathode materials. However, the stability of the materials at the fully charged state is a problem, and the cost and the environmentally acceptance for cobalt and nickel compounds are unfavorable. For LiMn2O4, rapid capacity fade under high temperature has been pointed out as severe drawbacks.Recently LiFePO4 was studied intensively as a potential cathode materials for lithium ion batteries, because of its low cost and improved safety.
