The linear motor is a kind of gearing which can transform electrical energy directly into linear moving mechanical energy without any middle conversion device. Comparing with the transmission form of"revolving machine +mechanical converter", the linear motor has obvious advantages: such as simple structure, no contact or abrasion, low noise, high speed, high accuracy and so on. In recent years, along with the improving request for industrial processing quality and precision of movement location,the linear motor has received widespread attention. Therefore, the linear motor is researched in this paper.The whole paper is consisted of two main parts: the electromagnetic computation research of the linear motor; the finite element analysis and calculation of the linear motor. In the first part, the disposal of curve, chart and iteration when compiling the CAD program are discussed. According to the steady state formulas of three-phase asynchronous linear motor and integration of the newest theory and technology of linear motor design, the electromagnetism design examination program is compiled with the C++ language. The program carries on electromagnetic computation, parameter computation and performance computation on basis of given parameters, and finally outputs the design proposal and electromagnetic performance that satisfy the user's technology request. In the second part, according to the characteristics of linear motor design, 2D electromagnetic field mathematic model of linear induction motor at starting point is set up by the method of analyzing the sine time-varying field of linear induction motor by FEM, the unit analysis process and discrete form of sine time-varying field and the final overall synthesis equation are given.
