The paper gives the performance characteristic of a new type modified double base solid propellant, and it is compared with the traditional double base propellant. The modified double base propellant is added to RDX and aluminum powder in the base of the nitrocotton and nitroglycerin. It has characteristics such as high mechanics performance of the traditional double base propellant, advanced technology, low mechanical sensitivity and high the self deflagration temperature , as same time it greatly raises the energy specific impulse, so the applied foreground is greatly extensive.Because it adds to the energetic materials of RDX and aluminum powder in the modified double base propellant, it has the characteristics of high specific impulse , high burning temperature and high particle density , comparing with the commonly double base propellant, it will meet new problems in the actual applied process of the small solid engine, so it needs to adopt new methods such as the charge shape design ,the heat insulation protection, the nozzle and charge baffle plate antiablation to solve the problemsAccording to the general technical requirements of a small solid engine that will study used in the project, the theory analysis and the test verification are made to the comparative analysis of the charge shape, the test verification, to improve the designs in the combustion chamber ,nozzle , heat insulation protection of interior inserting in charge baffle plate and the special shape nozzle, the results give that the new design project and method of using modified double base propellant in the small solid engine.The product that uses the new design method to study is verified by a series of related experiment, the result shows that the performance can completely meet the requirements of the general design, and shows that the method is efficient.
