By using polyethylene (PE) microporus filtration technology in the separation of modified double-base propellant slurry contenting ultrafine particles, the effects of experimental conditions such as the temperature, the pressure and the component ratio of the slurry on filtration rate and filtration resistance were studied. Considering the results and industrial practices, the optimum operational conditions were suggested. The filtration efficiency and the effects of different cleaning methods were also studied. The main results are as follows:High pressure and temperature were favorable for the filtration. As the content of ultrafine particles decreasing, filtration rate rises and the total time of the process decreased first and then increased. The optimum operating condition is at pressure of 0.3Mpa and at temperature of 60℃. The optimum component ratio of the slurry was artificial synthetic composites:SiO2 being 7:3.Under the optimum operational conditions, the retention rate in the filtration reaches 99.96%, and the filter cake's solid content reaches 75%, respectively 0.96% and 5% higher in percentage comparing to the traditional craft's requirements.When the percentage of ultrafine particles ranges from 15% to 55%,The total filtration resistance, cake resistance and pore block resistance presented different variation patterns comply with the pressure and temperature. The total filtration resistance increased when the pressure and the temperature were enhanced. The cake resistance rised as the pressure rises and didn't change when the temperature changed. The block resistance rises as the pressure decreased and temperature increased. When the content of ultrafine particles exceeds 30%, the total resistance and filter cake's resistance changes a little and the block resistance hardly changesThe effect of ultrasonic cleaning is much better than backflush. The best washing methods for longly used polymer microporus plate is that clean with ultrasonic respectively in 0.1% KmnO4 solution and 0.1% HCl solution of 15 minutes. By this, the filtration rate of water can recover to 99% of the unused.
