Reciprocating compressor is the large-size first class machine popular used by petrochemical factories. Because of its complicated structure and operating condition, reciprocating compressor has higher failure rate in its working. It is reported every year that accidents arising from the compressor's faults. This constitutes a big threat to the regular process of production and also bring huge economic loss to the factories. So it is very important to monitor the compressor on-line and diagnose the faults.This thesis studies and analyses the K201A/B reciprocating hydrogen compressor set in detail, uses virtual instrument technique as development platform and takes Server/Client mode to build-up real-time monitoring and diagnostic system, forms an information processing system with multiple tasks. The tasks are data acquisition, data transmission, state monitoring, data storage, operating condition analysis and fault diagnosis.This system can do the real-time on-line monitoring to the equipment and analyses the different spectrogram. The monitoring parameters are vibration value of the equipment, settling quantity of piston rod and etc. These provide the basis of fault diagnosis for the equipment. It records the historical operating data of the equipment by the network database, displays all kinds of trend diagrams and gives trend comparison. The alarm data, historical operating condition data and characteristic data can be checked in detail. The alarm limited value was set in this system. Sound alarm will work as soon as the value goes beyond the limit. It has the functions that prints data report about the equipment operation and provides the necessary data basis for the equipment fault diagnosis.The reliability, security and effectiveness of the equipment operation are raised by monitoring and analysis the equipment in the factory's network. The fault loss is reduced to the minimum and the equipment cost of all life cycle is reduced too. By analysis the fault reason after its happening avoids the same fault occurring again, makes workers fully know the equipment property, guarantees the equipment to give the full play to its design ability. Bydrawing up the reasonable detection and maintenance rules, bring about the transition from regular maintenance system to expected maintenance system.
