The serious problems in the aspects of energy resources, environment, and the rapid development of modern science and technology require that the batteries have the high performance. The lithium ion batteries (LIB) are regarded as the best one, because they have high working voltage, long cyclic life, high energy density and no environmental pollution. The cathode materials have great influences on the performance of LIB. Nowadays, the cathode material used in the commercial LIB is LiCoO2. But cobalt is expensive and makes serious environmental pollution and the resource of it is limited. The resource of nickel is richer than cobalt. The charging-discharging capacity of LiNiO2 is high but it makes serious environmental pollution and is difficult to be synthesized . The structure of it is unstable, the thermal stability of it is bad, which will cause the decrease of the charging-discharging capacities . The price of LiMn2O4 is cheap and it is easily to be prepared. The resource of manganese is rich and has no environmental pollution, but the charging-discharging capacity of LiMn2O4 is lower and the cyclic performance of it is also worse, especially at high temperature, which limited development of LiMn2O4.The recent developments in normal spinel LiMn2O4 were reviewed, In the process of the solid state synthesis, we researched the effect of materials and synthesis temperature on crystal structure and electrochemical performance, which were characterized by DTA-TG, SEM, XRD as well as electrochemical performance testing. The structure, electrochemical performance and the correlations between them were all discussed in detail for these doped samples. The results show that LiOH·H2O and EMD are better and cheaper materials which have no environmental pollution . It was found that the synthesis temperature were important factor.
