In the engineering of control, the objects controlled usually contain some uncertainty. Any actual system has nonlinear characteristics. So, if concise models are used to design controllers, something may go wrong when these concise models differ largely from the real ones. Sometimes the objects even can not be controlled. Since the complication of the nonlinear objects, there is no unified controller design method at present. In this article, Multiple internal model control (MIMC) design strategy was developed and applied in a main temperature control system in a power plant. Multiple internal model control (MIMC) design strategy was developed for a class of nonlinear systems. The process internal model is represented by the weighted-sum of the linear model by using model validity function. Simulation result showed that the proposed MIMC design method is superior to the conventional PID control in large scale and has wide application prospect.
