Since the 1980s, the vast revolution of rapid prototyping wascaused by the fast development of computer technology, number controltechnology. The RP technology provided a new solution to thedifficulties faced by clinical medicine for a long time. By synthesizingthe application of rapid prototyping, medicinal image technique,knowledge about computer-graphics, three-dimensional reconstructionand visualization technique, the problem "Customization according toone's actual size" bothered people for long in clinical medicine canbe resolved.First of all, we introduced the evolution and the present statusof three-dimensional reconstruction and visualization of medicalimages, CT working principle, the standard of Digital Imaging andCommunication in Medicine (DICOM), and some application examples ofrapid prototyping in the realm of medicine. We adopt the two-dimensionaldigital information (DICOM file) directly picked up from the equipmentof medical images. In this paper, we discussed the disposal to thetwo-dimensional digital information, the process of thethree-dimensional reconstruction of medical images, and the outputs ofthe data of three-dimensional models on the desk of reverse engineeringsoftware.The digital image processing technique is an important basis inthis paper. Six functional modules including image geometry, seniorprocessing, segmentation processing, contour withdrawing, contourtracing and mutual function are developed according to the imageprocessing theory. In the process of withdrawing the contour of a CTimage, the first step is to handle the image by the senior imageprocessing in order to remove or restrain the acoustic noise. Then theobjective district is separated from the background district by usingthe CANNY operator. After that, outline of the objective contour iswithdrawn by using the image contour tracking processing. At last thecontour data can be used in 3D reconstruction after the contour datais condensed.The theory of 3D reconstruction is the other important basis inthis paper. Based the 3D reconstruction theories, an arithmetic and aprogram that can construct 3D data model of single filed connect aredeveloped. Using the contour data that are obtained above, this programcan build a STL file which consists of many triangles, and the formatof STL file accords with the software interface of CAD in common use.In this paper we explicated the criterion of STL format, cause of mistakein the process of file conversion and the method to correct them. Usethe system that this text develop deal with a ear CT images and getcorresponding STL file, the ear's rapid model can obtained through RPtechnology. The application experiment proves that this system can bebetter in making rapid medical model from CT images, satisfy the requestof CT images processing. |
