Micro-satellite, which appeared in later 1980s, employed relatively advanced technology, new designing concept and scientific management at that time, realizing the target of the low cost, small weight, strong capability, and low power consumption. In order to reduce the power consumption of this micro-satellite, this paper increases power management function in the satellite keeping operator, carries on the daily duty dispatch and management using the satellite keeping operator, rationally distributes the energy, thus realizes low power consumption design of the satellite. After the hardware and software characteristic of satellite keeping operator and the working condition of various subsystems are investigated, the power management mechanism is added into operating system VxWorks and the commonly used dynamic power management of embedded system is also implemented in the micro-satellite subsystem, enabling the system to switch functions between the different work modes, in order to realize low power consumption design. This paper also designs one kind of dynamic power management to realize periodic task management function according to some components of subsystems with period operational factor and simple power consumption condition. The software and hardware design scheme of this technology based on the simulation platform PC/104 is elaborately introduced in detail. In the end, summary is proposed and prospect of the future research is discussed. We also propose the further research direction to power management on the satellite keeping operator application. Wishing the result in this paper can benefit the coming investigator and looking forwards to a complete success of this item.
