As the absolutely necessarily general parts used for transmitting movement and power in the mechanical equipment, gearboxes are widely employed in modern industries, such as metal-cutting machines, aviation industries, navigation gears, electric power systems, agricultural machineries, transport machineries, metallurgy and so on. The high speed, highly efficiency and brute force will be the final aim of the marine gearbox with the high development of the modern industrial technologies.Vibration and noise of the marine gearboxes have become a paramount problem increasingly because of the high power and speed of the gears. The vibration and noise affect not only the crew's running conditions and the hiding of ship craft, but also the working performance of the ship craft especially when they are used for the marine gearbox in the modern ship craft. Therefore, it is very necessary to make a research in the vibration and noise of the gearboxes. This task is from the 703 Institute of China Ship Heavy Industry Corporation. Through constructing the FEM model of the marine gearbox, the dynamic response is analyzed, and then the structure noise of the marine gearbox is calculated in I-DEAS.The following are the main tasks of the paper:1) The gear tooth stiffness, gear tooth error and meshing shock are calculated after constructing the gear tooth FEM model.2) The load curve in I-DEAS is automatically created through researching the application development based on I-DEAS and compiling the command stream.3) After constructing the entity model, the stress and displacement deformation of the gearbox are calculated through doing the static analysis of the gearbox in I-DEAS.4) The mode and dynamic response of the gearbox are analyzed in I-DEAS, then the mode of vibration, nature frequency, displacement, speed and acceleration of the gearbox are attained.5) The structure noise of the gearbox is calculated according to the vibration displacement, speed and acceleration.
