The freeway intelligent control system is one of the important aspects in ITS, and especially the mutl-ramp control is the important and difficult project of ITS, and have significant theory and value. Fuzzy Neural Network technology is one of the branches of intelligent technology. It is the combination of neutral network and fuzzy system, have the function of self-study and self-adaptive. This paper carries on the design and simulation to the algorithm of expressway muti-ramp control system.First, this paper setting the frame structure of ramp traffic flow based on the traffic flow characteristic in mainline and ramp of expressway, using the node model, the scale-model of vehicles proportion, the road section model and queuing network model and etc. to describe the dynamic characteristic of ramp traffic flow, and analyze the diverging and merging operation mode of traffic flow on ramp. Then, this paper overview the control methods and improvements, analyze the connotations and significant of expressway entrance ramp; and analyze the modeling of fuzzy control and neutral network control, and the necessity of the combined two methods and put forward the combine measures.As to the coordinated on-ramp control system, a coordinated ramp control system based on multi-layer and hierarchical intelligent control structure is put forward.The freeway traffic system is divided into self-organizinglayer, coordination layer and control layer and their structure and algorithm have been proposed.In the end, simulation platform for traffic control using the interface technology Matlab are presented and used to simulate the coordinated ramp control system. This simulation platform is a powerful simulation platform and can be used to test traffic control algorithm effectively before implementation.The simulation results show that the coordinated ramp control is better than the isolated ramp control, especially in balancing the travel time in all ramps and avoiding on-ramp spill-back.
