The Fiber-Optic Gyroscope (FOG) was born in 1970s, in recent several decades it had a well development. The FOG already replaces the conventional mechanical gyroscope in some fields and the application foreground is very extensive. Our country is backward in the research of FOG and the research production stays at laboratory stage. Researching a FOG experiment system is good at the research of FOG and engineering application to our country.This paper expatiate the principle of FOG which based on the FOG domestic and foreign research condition's overview furthermore discuss the researching scheme of the FOG experiment equipment. This scheme adopts VG949P produced in Russia as a sensor that includes some merits such as small volume, low weight, high performance and price ratio and so on. The control part using SPCE061A microcontroller, it not only has a powerful control function but also has digital signal processing ability. In the experiment equipment the microcontroller cooperate with the A/D chip to realize data acquisition, processing and transmit. The hardware design mainly includes signal detect circuit, electrical level translation circuit, microcontroller interface circuit, data communication circuit and so on.The software design contains PC software and microcontroller software two parts. The PC software develop with LabWindows/CVI that provides a friendly man-machine interactive interface and completes such functions as data accept, signal processing, display, data store. The microcontroller software using C language and the code has readability and easily transplant merits. The microcontroller and A/D chip realize the data acquisition and transmit function.The FOG experiment equipment this paper researched only has one degree of freedom. But the engineering application usually needs three degrees of freedom which limits the experiment contents design. In order to solve this problem this paper simplified the engineering problem and finish two experiments design such as pipe deformation measurement experiment and FOG search north experiment that obtain a well experiment effect.
