The simulation system of Rendezvous and Docking is the simulation equipment stimulating the aircraft's movements of rendezvous and docking. The 3D-parallel-moving system is very significant for creating 3 DOF movements. The system's capability has the strong influence on capability of the whole equipment. The motion crossbeam is an important component of the system. The crossbeam will support the rotating floor, the upright column and its moving while moving in the guide track. In order to control the stiffness and reduce the mass of the crossbeam it is important to optimize the crossbeam.The dissertation expatiates the background and significance of the simulating system, summarizes the research on the problems of structure topology optimization, and then emphasizes the artificial density method. The dissertation presents a new design approach of hierarchy optimization to design the crossbeam. The layout optimization of structure is carried out to get a comparatively reasonable primary conceptual design. The conceptual design is modified according to our experience to answer for the practical situation. Before the sizing optimization the position of the column that affects the crossbeam most is found out. Then by means of sizing optimization design the optimal structure is confirmed. Then the crossbeam is ameliorated again to satisfy the project situation. The same method is used to the new crossbeam. Then the optimal design of the new crossbeam is got. Compared with the original design, the next optimal design is much better.The new hierarchy approach composed by the conceptual design process and the sizing design process can overcome the disadvantage of the traditional design. Through this method, it can make the initial design on base of the scientific computation, and not on base of the experience and intuition. The hierarchy method is applicable to big and complicated structures especially. The method has significance for other mechanical structure design.
