Domestic and international the electric power net circulate data express, the breakdown of the power transmission line in the electric power net have greatly part, and the breakdown caused by thunder have the specific weight compare of the power transmission line. Particularly the power transmission lines in the mountain areas, the lines breakdown is basically caused by thunder. Therefore looking for more valid protection measure to defend the thunder, have been a topic which the domestic and international electric power worker concern with.Though currently much lightning protections are taken on the power transmission line ,such as installing to build on stilts a ground of line, lowering electric resistance the pole tower to connect a ground, installing coupling grand lines and strengthening power line's insulate etc. But these can't expel the over voltage on the power lines completely. Installing the surge arresters can limit the top electric voltage on the lines to grow up, so it is very valid either defending back striking or defending detour lightning.What this text describe is carrying on a calculation analysis about the defending thunder result using the surge arrester, carrying on the technique comparison to a few surge arresters, investigating the circumstance of a few power transmission lines in LIU ZHOU power net which usually break down by lightning strike, and their geography, and the measure which defend the lightning etc. Some surge arresters are installed in these power transmission lines and the research and practice about them are carried on. According the analyze about the surge arrester for 2-4 years of movement result, the principle which the surge arrester choose a type, choose a point, choose mutually is made...
