This thesis starts with the study on the engineering semantemes which are revealed from the pattern and dimension of a linkage mechanism. And then a linkage mechanism analyses approach based on such semantemes is presented, as well as a trajectory analyses approach based on curve encoding method. Hereby it realizes a mechanism count-design technique on the ground of a trajectory code-chains matching method. It also presents a mechanical component modeling approach via a mapping method between the corresponding mechanism elements and components. Mapping regulations are given which are capable to correctly map between the corresponding components and mechanism elements in terms of their patterns and dimensions of relative joint positions. To extract the information representing linkage mechanism topological structure and the position coordinates of every joint, it then successfully maps between components and mechanism elements respectively in terms of their positions. Hence, the three-dimensional model of a linkage mechanism is established. Prototype system has been developed which applies such research findings to the real design processes.The main works of this thesis are as follows:Chapter one firstly discuses the major research contents of linkage mechanism design and modeling in details. And then a survey on relevant research along with analyses of the shortages so far. Finally it systematically presents the clews of this thesis and analyzes the meanings of its studies. It also gives the organization structure of this thesis at last.Chapter two studies on the engineering semantemes which are revealed from the pattern and dimension of a linkage mechanism, and presents a linkage mechanism analyses approach based on such semantemes. It also presents a trajectory generation method through which it establishes an electro-atlas of linkage mechanisms. It still presents a trajectory analyses approach via curve encoding skills and puts forward a method to exact the code-chain of a trajectory automatically. Hereby everything is getting done for the mechanism counter-design.Chapter three based on the trajectory encoding analyses approach, it presents the trajectory geometrical transition algorithms and then develops a code-chains matching function which is also optimized afterwards.
