Monolithic stability of dam and foundation is a problem that is great concerned by designer and geological expert. With height of dam rapidly increased, design theory of gravity dam thinks that is not only controlled stability against sliding along dam foundation face but monolithic stability of gravity dam and foundation is researched. The later is prior to the former. To resolve the stability and security, numerical analysis and physical model are available approaches to solve these above-mentioned problems. Currently a lot of domestic and international great projects adopt the method combined experimental study with computational analysis. The two methods display each advantage and verify and remedy each other. Thus the great technological problem of the project is demonstrated fully.A lot of materials of geomechanical model in recent years have been consulted in this text. The method and theory of model test has been summarized. And three-dimensional geomechanics breakage model test and finite element method was adopted to study the monolithic stability of dam and foundation of Wudu roller compacted concrete dam combining its geologic characteristic and the distribution of the low-angle fault and interlayer alternate-longitudinal zone. And monolithic stability of the 18#and 19#monoliths. The conclusions show that (1) stability and security coefficient of 18#monolith KP is 2.2, and KP of 19#is 3.0. By finite element method calculating, overload KP of 18#is 2.5 and KP of 19#is 3.2. So security of dam and foundation is evaluated. (2) the destruction process, destruction condition and the failure mechanism of dam foundation rock body are analyzed and...
