Due to the requirement of increasing traffic, it is very urgent to widen the existing highways in China. Since many highways in the east-southern coastal region of China were built on the soft soils, highway-widening projects on soft soils will be very important in this area in the future days.Taking the widening project of Hang-Yong Expressway as research background, the construction technology of widening project of Hang-Yong Expressway is integratively analyzed. The design and construction scheme of widening project are confirmed according to the engineering geological data. The construction measure of Plastic Drainage Belt, Embankment Pile and DJM pile are used in deep and soft soil. In order to guaranteeing the project successfully implement, the embankment settlement by applying Plastic Drainage Belt, Embankment Pile and DJM pile are monitored. The paper provides guidelines for further expressway widening project.The influence of additional stress in the foundation generated by the new embankment is analyzed by using FEM. Based on Mohr-Coulomb model, regularity of settlement and deformation of old and new embankments are analyzed and compared with the measured data.
