Surcharge precompression combined with vertical drains Method has been proved to be a normal and effective way to improve soft clay ground. After reviewing the principle and development of this method in brief, this thesis gives a systematic research in settlement and stability problems on the method. All the research and data are based on a primary road's field measurement in City XiaMen, FuJian Province.The elaborate work involves several aspects as follows:The microstructure of natural soft clay in this area is researched and some consolidation calculation problems about soft soil road ground is analyzed.Based on a synthetical analyse of settlement, pore-pressure & lateral displacement data, some general regulations about the three ones develops with time and loading are induced. Besides, the final settlement calculation method from observed settlement-time curve is discussed. Also, some analyses about two standards in calculating the degree of consolidation and conditions of unloading are made.Combining with the engineering practice, the paper offers a judgement norm and control measure for groundwork stability while the ground is on construction.In order to meeting engineering application needs, the paper elaborates patchily the design and implementation of observing plan.
