With the development of the our country economy, It is a serious problem that we need a great deal of energy but oil deposits gradually decrease. Many coal and little oil is the characteristics of our country energy structure .Consequently, we can take coal as the raw material to produce methanol fuel. As a fungible fuel, methanol fuel is extremely important to develop our country economy. For the moment, the homogenous charge compression ignition (HCCI) is a new combustion concept, which incorporates the best features and discards the disadvantages of both traditional spark ignition (SI) gasoline engine and compression ignition (CI) diesel engine. On one hand, HCCI has not only high thermal efficiency, but also only forms extra low brake specific emission of NOx. On the other hand, the air/fuel ratio is very high which can improve fuel economy. Because of the characteristics of methanol and HCCI mode, methanol can be a kind of fuel that is fit to HCCI mode. Methanol can provide a relatively wider operating range and more steady combustion and faster heat release rates than gasoline.the rate of destructive knocking is also smaller than gasoline and diesel's.We can achieve a Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI)at a more wider ranging speed/load conditions by combust methanol fuel. Engine can wok at 2000-3500 r/min.Engine that operate with methanol have a higher BMEP and lower circulate change rate than gasoline. Methanol start to burn early and its combustion period is short. Methanol's heat release rate is faster than gasoline's.According to above a few reasons, we study methanol HCCI mode. We do experiment by using a new device called rapid compression machine. We aim to find what the effect of HCCI is when we change methanol-air ratio and charge temperatures and compression ratio etc. we can find their rule. The whole burnable...
