In respect that the weight of metallic structure accounts for 60% of that of the whole crane, to optimize the metallic structure of crane using modern optimizing methods, from the point of economical view, is an indispensable step in the process of designing a crane and is of much practical value as well.Owing to the current problems of single algorithm utilized in engineering optimization, based upon the analysis of genetic algorithm and respectively aiming at its defects such as immature convergence and low speed in.the last of iteration, this article importing simulated annealing algorithm and evolutionary strategy has made reparation for that genetic algorithm and consequently an evolutionary hybrid algorithm has been constructed. The vital questions disposed by that algorithm as follows:1 Resolved the problems of the coding express about the mixed discrete variables. Real coding is utilized in the algorithm to deal with different datum such as continuous variables integral variables and disperse variables etc.2 Improved each operator of genetic algorithm. According to the function of each operator in the genetic algorithm, relevant improvement has been made for crossover operator mutation operator and select operator, which give prominence to operators.3 Achieved the reasonable integration of genetic algorithm simulated annealing algorithm and evolutionary strategy.
