The difference among three neutral grounding modes is discussed and the merits and demerits of these modes are compared. The capacitance currents in 10kV side of Xuyi substation and Guoyuan substation is calculated and compared to the actual circumstance. To analyze the regular over-voltage in distribution network, simulated calculation is performed. At the same time, the limit of over-voltage in different neutral grounding modes has been taken into account.The paper also compared three neutral grounding modes from the stability of electricity power supply, electric facilities, the level of insulation, the disturbance of communication, the protection system and the safety of operator. According to the actual circumstance of Xuyi substation and Guoyuan substation, the selection of grounding modes is via Peterson coil which mainly consists of an auto-tuned Peterson coil. The capability and out-of-resonance of Peterson coil are calculated.
