Since the nineties of the last century, the continuous appearance of new commercial methods and communications demanded ever increasing software development efficiency. The traditional methods for design and development of software requires long development cycle and high cost, the developers spent a lot of time and effort on similar system architecture and functional code, wasted massive amount of manpower, material and financial resources. The appearance of software reuse technologies provides a new way forward, they include code, design and analysis reuse, which lead to reduce development cost, improve efficiency and quality. It was realized, that high level reuse can bring a greater economical benefit, and therefore, software reuse has obtained more attention from both academical and non-academical people. The MES system has come to China for a few years, the successful examples of development and utilization are very rare, this is because not only a MES system is large and complicated but also the funds are normally limited. So it is very important that the reuse technology is applied in the design and the development of the MES system to enhance efficiency and allows the developers concentrate on what they really need to do.By investigation of many manufacturing corporations, the author has designed an application framework based on the .NET platform and implemented a MES system with a number of functions. This thesis starts with an introduction of the background knowledge and the framework reuse technology and its advantages followed by a description of component reuse, domain engineering and so on. This thesis then present the .NET platform and the MES prototype system based on it, which proves the value of the research work in this paper. This thesis concludes by analyzing this prototype MES system and suggesting further improvements.
