| Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is a new developing technology in the world, it depends on transmitting and reflecting electromagnetic (EM) wave to get the information of object. Being a kind of nondestructive, untouched method, it has many advantages such as high precision, low cost, abundant content, non-destruction and rapidness. It can collect data at high speed (about 80 km/h), the data can be processed by special software and the GPR can offer color images and calculate the information we needed.In this paper, a systematical study was done for the engineering problem using GPR to evaluate pavement structure. The detail is follows: The status and development of GPR applied technology, working principle of GPR, a detailed narration is concerned about GPR's makeup and exploration theory ,analysis of explorative parameter。And based on some representative examples, this paper dissertates some applications of GPR in highway, particularly containing following content:(1)Measure the thickness of the concrete layers on flexible pavement with GPR. In view of precision question, do rectified experimentation by Drill holes, and analysis accuracy and reproducibility by field test, calculate reasonable length which can control precision in low level.(2)Carry on recognizing research to prospect internal disease of pavement structure. We explain the recognizing principle through the applied example and do safety analysis for recognition success ratio.(3)Recognize and classify the wheel rutting by using GPR. Get each kind of wheel rutting's geometry characteristic factor after analysis what causes the rutting. The data collected from GPR can be calculated to get relation to the geometry characteristic factor, and the recognizing method will come true. We calculate two cross sections to introduce this method.This paper has made above attempt in the application of GPR, maybe it will be helpful to the following research. |
