With the future more strict emission legislation, traditional mechanical fuel injection systems are not easy to meet the needs of EURO III emission regulations. So it is inevitable to apply the electronic control technology to diesel engine nowadays. In China, the level of technology of electronic control diesel engine is still inferior to that of the US and the EU and needs to be developed urgently. Designs of electronic control system,ECU,monitor system and the embedded system are introduced in this paper.First of all, a complete electronic control system for diesel engine was designed. Then, based on analysis of high pressure common rail injection system and EGR system, both the designing tasks of hardware and software for electronic control unit have been finished. Motorola MC9S12DP512 was chosen as the CPU, the modulation circuit and driving circuit have been designed and made into PCB board. The driving circuit was tested to ensure running well.The software of monitor system was developed by using LABVIEW, which is an excellent graph design tool of NI Company, USA. It can achieve real-time control,display and storage. The data transmitting between computer and ECU is according to RS232 serial communication standard. A certain method of error-correct has been adopted in the process of data transmission, and its reliability has been insured.The characteristic of electronic control diesel engine is multi-tasks and real-time accuracy. So the control software has been developed by using the imbedded system uC/OS-II. The clock ticks and synchronization of tasks have been designed to meet the requirement of control logic of the electronic control system. The real-time requirement of the electronic control system is satisfying, and the goal of modularization design is achieved at the same time.The experiment was carried out on the high pressure common rail injection test-bed. The results show that the ECU is feasible, and the system can realize tasks of acquiring signals from sensors,processing data,communicating with PC and basic control of parameters. It puts forwards some prospect for the further research related to technology of the high pressure common rail injection system for diesel engine.
