Exhaust Noise is a very serious pollution problem in our daily life. So it is important for us to create an effective method to predict the noise of exhaust. Also, in order to reduce the PM, the use of the DPF is a valid measure. Therefore, we should consider the areoacoustic characteristics of the DPF , and the diffusing rule of the noise of exhaust. Then we can design DPF more exactly. But there is short of the literature of the relationship between the areoacoustic characteristics and the DPF design. So it is valuable to investigate the noise diffusing rule in the DPF. The purpose of this paper is researching the DPF effect on the diffusing of the exhaust noise. The analysis of the DPF model is carried out by using fluid dynamics FEM and three dimensional acoustic FEM. First of all, the DPF's Pro/E model is constructed. Then putting the model into ANSYS, which is a powerful element analysis software. In ANSYS the DPF's element model is created, and ANSYS/CFD analysis is carried out. At last ,the author puts the element model into Sysnoise to do the acoustic analysis. The analysis clearly depicts the diffusing process of the noise of exhaust in DPF under the help of sound pressure graph and the velocity graph. Also the diffusing rule of high and low frequency sound's transmitting in DPF is pointed out. What's more, the paper discusses the attenuation that occurs in the time when sound passes the filtration matter. In the end , the paper inquires the TL of the DPF, and studies the acoustic characteristics of DPF. The study provides the theory to optimize the DPF design, and it makes sure for the manufacturer and application of the DPF.
