Based on the requirement of the vehicle-borne mobile optical system, the quaternion method of light-beam propagation in misaligned optical system is investigated by the theory of geometric optics, quaternion and mechanical vibrations. And software named"Analysis on misalignment of optical system"was developed. The main work includes:1. According to the Rodrigues-Hamilton parameterized quaternion, the concept of standard quaternion and inverse operator of rotation transform of quaternion are introduced. The quaternion representations of refraction and reflection laws are deduced. The computational flows of light-beam propagation in coaxial optical systems using quaternion method are provided. This work established the basic theories for the computation of misaligned light-beam probation.2. Based on the theory of mechanical vibration, the computational method of misaligned position and pose of lens are derived, as well as the quaternion method of light-beam propagation in misaligned coaxial optical systems.3. The normal off-axis optical systems are introduced. Based on the theory of mechanical vibration, the computational method of misaligned position and pose of lens are derived, as well as the quaternion method of light-beam propagation in misaligned off-axis optical systems.4. A general software named"Analysis on misalignment of optical system"was developed. The specifications of some key part are given, which provides the reference and the basis for the following development work.
