Xiganxian pipeline is a trunk dainage pipeline constructed in early 1970s,23.2km long from Xincun Pump Station to Shidongkou Sewage Treat Plant. As the origional design standard was low, and the pipe structure was weak, the pipeline has been corroded seriously after running more than 30 years. Referring to "Report of feassibility researches on the Xiganxian restruction engineering", the old pipeline would be abandoned after the construction of a new Xiganxian pipeline. For guarding against any hidden danger, it is highly necessary to treat the abndoned pipeline propely. Because the ground condition is complex, and it is impossible to excavate the pipeline, it is necessary to find a way to treat the burried pipeline by filling with slurry.Referring to the practical requirements to filling treatment of Xiganxian abandoned pipe, the abandoned ground soils and bottom mud of waterworks are chosen as the filling materical, and the property indeces related to filling construction and effects, such as viscosity factor, drying shrinkage ratio, of cement-soil slurry are studied in laboratory. The optimum mixing quantity of cement, water-solid ratio and quantity of additives of cement-soil slurry satisfying the space-filling effects are put forward after this research. Then the mould experiment and pipeline simulation test are conducted, the parameters of cement-soil slurry, like the velocity and the flow etc. related to the construction are tested as the supplement of the laboratory research.The experimental studies indicate that soil type, the optimum mixing quantity of cement and water-solid ratio are the most important factors that influence the characteristics of cemented soil slurry. Cemented soil slurry composed of the abandoned ground soil, not adding any additives, could satisfy the requirements of the XIGANXIAN project.
