Recently there has been a great progress in economy and municipal construction in Xiangshan county of Zhejiang province, but the drainage facilities are unreasonable, and the planning of sewer plant and sewage collecting systems is lagged to urban construction. The integration of waste water engineering in the county area has not been completed. Based on the study in total city planning, local landform, climate, sewer quantity and quality, the paper presents the planning of waste water engineering of Xiangshan County. From the viewpoints of environment protection and sustainable development, the planning is necessary for scientific decision making. The paper analyzes the quantity and quality of existing industry waste water in the county, and forecasts the variation of sewer water in planning period. The areas of drainage water are departed, several schemes of main sewer pipe network are compared, and the best scheme is obtained. Amount of hydraulic calculation is finished in design of sewer systems. The paper suggests the technology of SBR to be used in waste water treatment plant. The location of plant outlet is discussed for protection of water environment, and feasible project is given. The planning presents a viewpoint of waste water reuse, regenerated water can be used for domestic clean wash and as the viewing of riverside.Storm water systems are also planned, combining with rainfall model and runoff process, storm water drainage pipe networks are designed. The policy and technique of forcing rain water to enter soil is suggested for the reduction of peak flow, the improvement of environment and the saving of ground water.Eventually, the engineering investment of sewer and storm water systems is given.
