With the progress of aerospace technologies, human's activities have extended into the outerspace. One of the most important trends of modern spacecrafts is miniaturization. When the mass of the spacecraft becomes very small, its propulsion system should be light in weight and precise in thrust for high precision attitude maneuver and orbit control. In some cases, the propulsion system's ability of quick response is also required.The mass of a small spacecraft may be less than 10 kg. The application of solid propellant thruster can dramatically reduce the mass of propulsion system,because it can eliminate storage tank, pipelines and some valves. Moreover it also has the advantages of longtime storing, high safety and easy maintenance.The objective of this thesis is to solve the problems related to the design and manufacturing of micro solid thrusters with a throat size of several millimeters level for orbit control or a throat size of several hundreds of micrometers level for attitude maneuver.With the help of MAO (Microarc Oxidation), a ceramic layer is created in the inner wall of the aluminum alloy combustion chamber to improve the thruster thermal efficiency. Another kind of micro mica-argil prototype is also manufactured and assembled. The aluminum alloy prototype and the ceramic prototype are successfully ignited by a SCB igniter and a laser igniter respectively.
