The physical and chemical properties of biodiesel were introduced, and the fuel spray characteristics as well as combustion & emission performance of biodiesel engine were focused. The study was conducted on a D6114ZLQB diesel engine with no more than 15% biodiesel in the mix fuel. The main work of the study includes:(1) On a conventional pump-line-nozzle system, the injection process of pure RME and SME was investigated compared with diesel by using Zeuch method. The results showed that:â‘ The injection law of biodiesel fuel is just similar with that of diesel fuel, while RME and SME have a higher maximum injection rate than that of diesel.â‘¡The injection timing of biodiesel is earlier than that of diesel, and as the rotation speed increases, the injection timing advances. There is little difference between RME and SME on injection timing.
