The modeling and simulation of Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) is an important method for the research of characteristics of HRSG in the gas/steam combined cycle. In this article, the modular modeling method is applied to study the various dynamic characteristics of HRSG.Firstly, the dynamic mathematical models of the typical components of HRSG are built up according to the fundamental physical laws, such as the gas side model and the steam-water side model. These models are built using the lumped parameter method. The outlet parameters are seen as the lumped parameters when the economizer, super-heater and the re-heater are modeled. This will get rid of the 'see-saw' effect in the modeling process. In the modeling of components, by introducing the proper state variables and proper assumptions, this article solves the coupling problem of pressures and temperatures of cold and hot flows of the heat exchanger and in the computing process, so the iteration is avoided.Secondly, these models are applied to build a systematic model of a certain singular pressure HRSG, which describes the relationship between each component. Its dynamic characters under various disturbances are simulated and analyzed; the qualitative results can give some references for relative study. The solution of the model is on the platform of EASY5 which is developed by Boeing Company.
