In China, loess areas are totally about 640,000 km~2, of which collapsible loess areas account for 3/4. In recent years, an increasing number of construction projects have been designed or are being performed in the course of rapid development of the Great West. In practical water system project construction, frequently occurred collapsible loess collapse and deformation resulted in a lot of casualties and economic loss. Hence, the research on how to perform the construction projects in an efficient way has been of great value in the development of the western areas that are characteristic of the variety of collapsible loess. This thesis centers about the research of Dingbian Water Supply Project and, in accordance with the actual GBJ25-90 Code for Building Construction in Collapse Loess Regions, focuses on the following aspects:1. tests and analyses the soil features of collapsible loess in Dingbian area, such as moisture content, density, liquid ductility limit, compression ratio, dynamic consolidation, and so on, to determine the soil feature parameters and thus to provide strong technology support for project construction design.2. studies basic principles and approaches to the collapsible loess ground treatment in Dingbian area, and compares and analyses different treatment methods: pre-building soaking, lime-soil compaction pile, dynamic consolidation, cushion consolidation, basis pile, etc.3. considering the characteristics of the collapsible loess and taking the case of collapsible loess ground treatment in Dingbian Water Supply Project for instance, compares the dynamic consolidation method with the cushion consolidation method and analyses the differences in their effects in practice. As a result, it points out and emphasizes the design of changing from the max-collapsible tendency to the possible-collapsible tendency and thus puts forth a new ground treatment method that is more reasonable and practical both in technology and finance.4. considering the actual ground treatment and its effects in Dingbian Water System Project, points...
