This paper studies the principles, power factor and harmonic suppression of Cascade speed-adjustment system firstly, and the comparisons of several novel improvement schemes are made, too. To improve the power factor and harmonics suppression, a three-phase current-source PWM inverter (CSI) is developed. Then, the topology and mathematical models of CSI are analyzed secondly. To simplifier the modulation process of the conventional CSI, a new space vector algorithm is developed basing on the direct phase control scheme. This new algorithm overcomes the complicated calculation of vector sector and vector position in classical SVPWM technique, and its realization is simple. In order to obtain better dynamic and static performance, the Cascade speed-current-loop system is designed, and the simulation system of CSI and cascade system are set up. The effectiveness of the novel technique is verified by simulation. Finally, the hardware and software are designed based on TMS320F2812.
