The paper used the finite element method of ANSYS to imitate a calculation about the temperature field and thermal stress to each startup process of the sub-critical 600 MW steam turbine rotor. During the period of calculation, dividing viral convection equation of hot coefficient according to the pressure was used by ANSYS, giving calculation result with the calculator output's sketch form, passing to the analysis that computes a result, make the calculation result near to process physically, thus the calculation accuracy of thermal stress is raised consumedly. During the period of calculation, the dangerous section and the corresponding climax of stress was ascertained, and provide importance basis to circulate physically. At the same time, new ways was applied during the building and input of finite element model, the process of calculation was simplified. At last, according to the result of calculating and analysis , we will analyze influence factor of thermal stress and life span to steam turbine rotor, and get how is reasonable to control thermal stress of steam turbine rotor, the life span etc. to have the conclusion of the safety reference value.
