With the development of science technology, bi-directional DC/DC (BDC) converter gradually obtains wide applications in Industry automation area, especially for battery charging/discharging system. As a novel topology of DC/DC converter, bi-directional DC/DC converter will definitely play a more and more important role in industry applications. In recent years, synchronous rectification is an attractive technique for DC/DC converter's efficiency improvement. This technique will greatly promote the development of low-output-voltage and high-output-current DC/DC converter. With the advance in microprocessor technology, digital controllers for DC/DC converter become available and gradually take the place of traditional analogy controller. Digital control technique will greatly facilitate the intelligentization and integration level of DC/DC converters.Based on these backgrounds, this paper first gives a thorough analysis and comparison of several typical isolated bi-directional DC/DC converters. On the basis of which, a novel topology of isolated bi-directional DC/DC converter is presented. The circuit structure, working principle and the applied synchronous rectification technique are analyzed in detail. The design and calculation procedures of key circuit components are introduced step by step.In the aspect of control system, this paper first introduces the state of the arts of DC/DC converter's control technologies, and then explains the structure and design of all-digital-control system based on microprocessor LPC2119 (ARM7 core). The composition and functions of control software are also introduced. In the end of this paper, the circuit operation of the proposed topology is verified by simulation and experiment. The waveforms demonstrate the correctness, accuracy and reliability of the whole system. The performance indexes such as control precision and efficient completely meet the design requirements.
