With crisis of energy resources and increased environmental pollution, the development of electric vehicles has been highlighted in 21 Century. The electric vehicles have the advantage of clean, no contaminating, the energy source diversifies and advanced energy efficiency. The motor and their drive & control system is one of the key technology of electric vehicles, which is the problem solving first to develop the electric vehicles.The main work in this thesis is to develop the Switch Reluctance Motor which used in the drive system of electric vehicles. Firstly, the background and significance, present development situation and key technology etc. of electric vehicles were summarized. Also, some fundamental demand of drive system of electric vehicles is discussed; the parallel different kinds of drive system of motor are compared. Then, the thesis think that the Switch Reluctance Drive system is applied to this application occasion, and has outstanding merit in the field of structure , efficiency and reliability etc.Secondly, the thesis discussed the diversity layout of electric vehicles drive system; developed the pure electric vehicles drive system based on SRM completely. The key work include the design of main circuit of SRM power convert; the type choice of IGBT; the design of drive circuit and drive power supply; the estimation of power loss of power convert circuit; the radiator design of power component; the improvement design of control circuit. Meanwhile, the CAN communication module is designed which is used to collect and transfer the operation information of drives system.After completely design the electric vehicles drive system based on 22KW SRM and successfully do the zero load and load experiment, then equipped it on the refit electric vehicle. With two kinds different control pattern, the electric vehicle operation function has carried out and finally the thesis selected the average electric current closed cycle control pattern. Under this control pattern, the function of the refit electric vehicle is almost the same as the fuel oil automobile.Finally, the thesis summed up the system function. The research of electric vehicle drive system based on SRD has certain reference value to the next step.
