Research On 3D Reconstruction From Contour Map And Program Based On MATLAB And VRML

As the imformation era coming,especially after the Iraq war in 1991,moden war has becamed high-teconology war.Moden war has come in information age.Information has becamed the tide of military development.Virtual military manoeuvre of computer,military simulation,the virtual environment of battle,etc. are realized in military.Facing the military reformation,the traditional paper map can't adapt well to the military affair.so,this paper tried to develop a system for 3D reconstruction from contour map,and made a basement for electromic sand-plate.At first,the paper studied the theories about 3D reconstruction from contour map.Now,there are two means to creating 3D models from contour map.One is repainting the map by manual.The other is using the airscape and the altitude to show the 2D models. Because great workload or expensive,they can't be used widely.So some pursuers put forword a theory about how to reconstruct 3D models from contour map.The main thought of this theory is to scan the traditional paper map as picture of grey level in 256 colors or panchromatic bmp picture.then it is recognized,thinned,vectorized and the three-dimensional map with sense of reality is obtained.There is a shortcoming that the contour was segmented only according H variant of HIS model.So,this paper used the threshold value of H and S.The paper used a new method of vectorization of contour.By this method ,people can vectorize the contour without thinning.And the paper studied the mode of gridding ,the method of interpolation and tolerance.Secondly,the paper based on the above theories ,developed a system of 3D reconstruction from contour map using MATLAB and VRML.The system is made of modules in the thought of object oriented programming. The paper showed the structure and flow of modules.At last,the paper gived a demo to introduce how to use the system. The study of the problem will progress the information of PLA.And the 3D models that creat by the system can be used in command of battle and military simulation.
