Many coal storages have been built in fire-power house in recent years. Basic principles of selection on the roof of the coal storage have been got by existing projects in the paper.The coal storages of spherical reticulated shell have been paid more attention to because of the character of less land-use area, more coal- storage capacity and environment benefits, so the type of spherical reticulated shell has been got more in all the coal storages. The principles of structure design and mechanical properties have been studied in the paper, such as the effect of members' forces by bearings' displacements under the coal pressure and bearings' push. Some conclusions have been got.The coefficient of wind-induced vibration of spherical reticulated shell has been studied in the paper, and the conclusion can help the structure design in the future.Many construction methods can be chosen to erect a project of space structures. Two best methods to erect the coal storages of spherical reticulated shell have been studied in the paper.A new mechanics analysis method, the construction process mode variable superimposed method basic on nonlinear theory ,is put forward to compute member forces and joint displacements of the structure during construction. Some new questions of the roof of the coal storages are put forward, which can offer the worthy help for the construction of the structures in the future.
