The finite element method is an effective tools in analysis many structural problems. In the couse of the analysis, a mass of data is generated. How to analysis and understand the data so that it can extract the key information for enginerring design, such as the stress distribution and the high stressed zone situation, is the main question in the FEM calculation. The visualization is widely accepted post-processing. Not only does it reveal to engineers and technicians the significant characteristics of the complicated computing results by visual tools, but also improves and develops efficient computing methods and new strategy based on steering computing.To simulate the deformation and stress history of the earth-rockfill dam, this paper uses Visual C++6.0 as development tool and adopts OOP. Based on the previous Finite Element Analysis program, we utilize mixedly programming and present the idea and program of corresponding algorithms. The main contents are summarized in the following:(1)We review and summarize the elementary theory and implementation procedure of the Finite Element Method and the different interpolating functions of different data fields are given. The detail of mixedly programming and the mixed methods between VC++ and Fortran and OOP are described here. This part is the theoretical basis of simulating the deformation process and relevant algorithm.(2)Using the knowledge of Computer Graphics, the mapping transformation process of the three-dimensional finite element model and the basic geometric transformation of the graph are depicted. Then, combining the design feature of finite element, the basic data structure system is given. This part is the basic plotting means of the graph algorithm's program implementation.(3)Primarily discuss and investigate the principle of the construction loading and Finite Element Analysis of the earth-rockfill dam. And introduce the display process of the chromatic nephogram of physical field values, the blanking process of the three-dimensional finite element model and the plotting of the three-dimensional data field, the specific algorithm is also presented. Based on the bitmap, multithreading, virtual memory technique and timing technique, the display algorithm of the earth rockfill dam's deformation and stress history during the construction loading process is presented, and the application example is also given.
