Owing to the repeated oil spill casualties of recent years such as the Exxon Valdiz in 1989 followed by the Braer in 1993, Sea Empress in 1996, Nakhtodka in 1997, Erika in 1999 and the Prestige in 2002, the World Shipping Trade and International Maritime Organzation are subject to unprecedented pressure.The safety problem of oil tankers causes increasing attention of the governments, shipping interests, shipping commercial world and industry orgnizations. When analyzing these casualties, two potential dangers were detected:First, in order to enhance the competitiveness, the light ship concept used by the classification societies, i.e. reducing the rules requirements, decreases the reliability of the ships, which results in the unsafe factors.Second, the irrational structure design may result from ambiguous understanding caused by the opacity of prior criterion.The goal of the Common Structural Rules for Double Hull Oil Tankers(CSR for Oil Tankers) is ensuring the safety of the structure during the process of design, construction, operation and maintenance.Based on design of the 50000DWT oil & crude oil tanker, the structure design and Finite Element Analysis(FEA) of buckling evaluation applying CSR for Oil Tankers, are described in this dissertation. In addition, the midship sections of the other several different tonnage oil tankers are checked using CSR, in order to find out the design rules and key technologies, thereby a reasonable modeling foundation is provided for the FEA of yielding and advanced buckling, which reduces the manual work of the FEA and increase the work efficiency.The following contents are involved in this dissertation:First, based on midship section structure design of the 50000DWT oil & crude oil tanker using CSR and the design regulations of the different tonnage oil tankers, the design rules and key technologies of midship section structure design using CSR are found out;Second, on the basis of the problem encountered during corrugated bulkhead, the optimized model is established and the global optimum solutions of the corrugated parameters, satisfying the rules requirements and the lightest corrugated bulkhead are achieved. Compared with the original scheme, 99.26t steels are saves by the optimized scheme considering the factors of structure arrangement. The saved weight is 0.87% of the lightweight of the ship;...
