International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) announces that Double Hull oil tanker common structure rules (JTP) goes into effect in getting up in industry on April 1, 2006. Appearing personally of JTP gives oil tanker structural design to have brought about enormous change, mainly the new shipbuilding steel hull of the increase in weight.the main problem is that new shipbuilding hull steel weight increases.Double Hull oil tanker common structure rules (JTP) to ship-length's request is 150m"cut it even at one stroke", namely to rule length not less than 150m of double hull oil tanker, every classification society member in IACS have to carry out the JTP rules;to the oil tanker whose ship-length's being smaller than 150m,applies every corresponding classification society norm. However, to oil tankers whose rule-length approaching to 150m with 5% (means that the rule-length is in 142.5 m ~ 157.5 m), carrying out the new rules or old rules causes concerns among industry personage. To new rules, the structure dimension design procedure is miscellaneous and trivial is more conservative,and the mean time, carrying out finite element direct calculation so amount of work are very big ;relatively,to old rules the structure dimension designs that the step calculates a simplicity, without carrying out finite element method direct calculation,amount of work is relatively less.In order to explore 150m"all at once"the question,this paper chooses 4 oil tankers whose rule-length are about 150m, according to the JTP rules do the rules dimension check and do finite element structural strength assessment, Let the common rules further rationalize, personalize.To JTP dimension check, it's easy to make mistakes due to complicated calculation steps. Firstly, the paper know calculation of rule dimension ckeck process , carried out the JTP rules and the CCS rules rule dimension ckeck though CCS-SDP software by China Classification Society maked for JTP rules,explores the characteristic of design dimension of JTP rules; About finite element method direct calculation, build 3 cargo tanks in mid-ship FE model by the MSC/Patran finite element software, to realize the automation loading of JTP yielding loads by applying the CCS-tools PCL language, then do structure yield strength and buckling strength assessment. to explore 150m"all at once"the question thougn the assessment the strength results of 4 oil tanker intensities calculate.Finally ,according to oil tanker direct calculation Analysis Guide of CCS rules,this paper chose 1 oil tanker whose total length approaches to 190m,calculate yielding stresses and load in FE models, do CCS rules structure yield strength and buckling strength assessment compared with two rules calculation results, explores the characteristic of JTP rules strength assessment.
