The pier and supporting crossbeam of release works are critical bearer structure to assure the smooth running of arch work gate, and its pre-stressed anchor design is an important work to do. In company with development of our national high dam, more and more high demands are needed for release works'maximum outflow discharge, working head, sluice size, arch water gate stress, and pier stress. But the limitation of spillway width make it not imposable to design a larger pier size, thus it is necessary to use the pre-stressed structure to alleviate the pier stress.The outlet pier of dam body in high dam is the study object in this paper, silo contrary tensile type and U type pre-stressed anchor are choused to research, and the effect of pre-stressed anchor and the dam body's stress distribution are analyzed under different distribution and number of anchorage cable. The mechanism, simulation methods and the finite element model, etc. are also discussed; the working character and stress distribution of pier in different work conditions are studied by a engineering example, the critical supporting part of the structure and the character of the stress distribution are put forward from the simulated results, which can be use to provide important data for optimizing the distribution and number of the anchorage cable. All what we have done are important to cut down engineering costs, improve the structure behavior, and ensure its smooth running.It is concluded that the two-type pre-stressed anchors are both feasible to reduce the tensile stress of critical part to allowable range. The difference is that the silo contrary tensile type anchor is advanced in giving force easily and having clear effecting mechanism, but it needs tube well drainage pre-set in the dam body, which is danger to the dam safety. The U type anchor overcomes it, which make the surrounding stress of pier well-proportioned. The set of anchorage cable in crossbeam improve the crossbeam's rigidity, which can make the stress on the pier and crossbeam well proportioned in highest limit, and improve the supporting stress of the structure at the same time. According to the engineering practice, a new design method of pre-stressed system for the pier is brought forward, which is more practical to engineering project than tieback coefficient method.
